A man who assaulted a Fort Worth hotel employee after being denied a room was arrested following a SWAT standoff on Sunday, police said.

Officers responded to a shooting call about 1 a.m. at Sonesta Simply Suites Fort Worth Fossil Creek at 5201 Endicott Ave., police said.

Police said the suspect argued with a hotel employee outside the building after he was denied a room. He then pulled out a handgun and hit the employee with it several times, but did not shoot him.

When officers arrived the suspect fled the scene, police said.

The suspect ran to the 2000 block of Loving Avenue where he was later arrested at about 5 a.m. after a SWAT standoff, police said.

The Gun Violence Unit detectives are investigating the incident, police said.
