“MAFS” 2024 Will Feature Another Same-Sex Couple, Here’s What We Know – POPSUGAR Australia

[ad_1]

Just as “MAFS” 2023 wrapped up, the excitement is already building for Season 11 in 2024. And we’ve got some juicy deets for you! Speculation is rife about the inclusion of another same-sex couple, and TBH, about damn time.

Known for its cheating scandals, couple swaps, and post-show gossip, “MAFS” is one of Australia’s most controversial reality shows. The concept of having two strangers tie the knot moments after their first meeting and the ensuing drama make it an emotional rollercoaster for both participants and viewers alike.

Although lifelong love isn’t a common outcome for the show, there have been a few success stories, providing glimmers of hope amid the chaos.

As we gear up for “MAFS” 2024, the tea’s already spilling, and here’s what we know so far:

“MAFS” 2024 Is Rumoured to Have a Same-Sex Marriage

According to a report from Daily Mail Australia, the upcoming season will feature two men tying the knot, marking another step toward diversity and representation of various forms of love on the show.

“It’s important to get this right. We’re not just adding diversity for the sake of it, but to genuinely represent the many colours of love,” the insider told the publication.

Last year, “MAFS” expert Mel Schilling highlighted the significance of diversity. She admitted that the show’s interpretation of matching participants based on sexual orientation had its shortcomings.

“For us, it was really important to find people who genuinely wanted to find love. We didn’t want to simply match people based on sexual orientation,” she told Metro last year.

‘Cause there’s never been a couple matched purely for the drama before, right?

In 2020, “MAFS” broke new ground by featuring its first lesbian couple, Amanda Micallef and Tash Herz, after gay marriage was legalised in Australia in 2017. However, the couple faced numerous challenges during their TV marriage and did not continue their relationship outside the show. Prior to them, in 2016, the show’s first gay couple, Craig Roach and Andy John, got married in a beautiful ceremony in New Zealand. But their relationship also didn’t last in the real world.

“MAFS” 2024 Cast

As for the cast of “MAFS” 2024, some potential contestants have been revealed per Daily Mail Australia reports. Foodie blogger and PR consultant Lauren Dunn is set to tie the knot on the show. Known for managing the Instagram account “So Cooked” with over 12.8K followers, Dunn is described by sources as a “smart and savvy angelic beauty.”

Joining her in the social experiment is reportedly Jayden Eynaud, brother of Season 9 contestant Mitch Eynaud, who was married to Ella Ding. Already having filmed his backstory on the Gold Coast, Jayden is reportedly “stoked” and “excited” for his “MAFS” journey. Apart from being Mitch’s brother, he is also a pro kickboxer.
