After the largest public skilled nursing facility in California got its revoked Medi-Cal funding restored last August, its full Medicare funding has now been restored as well. [KQED]
- Dr. Dharmesh Patel, the man who drove off a San Mateo County cliff in a Tesla with his entire family inside, will avoid jail time and instead get a mental health diversion. Judge Susan M. Jakubowski “concluded the proper diagnosis for the defendant’s mental illness was major depressive disorder which is a qualifying mental disorder under the [diversion] statute,” according to the San Mateo County DA’s office, though Patel will still spend a couple more months in jail as a “bridging period.” [KPIX]
- A student journalist who was among the protesters arrested for taking over the office of the president of Stanford is being disciplined alongside the protesters, and some press freedom advocates are irate. [Chronicle]
- San Jose’s former waterslide park Raging Waters will indeed reopen on June 29, under the new name CaliBunga. [NBC Bay Area]
