Lockdown lifted at Lake Brantley High School after student found with gun on campus, officials say

A lockdown has been lifted at Lake Brantley High School in Seminole County after officials say they discovered a gun on campus. According to Altamonte Springs Police Department, officials received information about a possible weapon on campus around 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday, which promptly led to an investigation.A student was identified, searched and, according to officials, found with an unloaded firearm that was stolen out of Orange County. Police did not release any additional information about the student, but say he was placed under arrest.Even though police say the incident was isolated, the school remained under a brief lockdown as officials used K-9s to do a sweep of the campus “out of an abundance of caution.”Seminole County Public Schools reported that all students and staff were safe while the lockdown was in place.”The professional training of our SROs and their trusted relationships among out students played an essential role in keeping everyone safe today. We have an excellent system in place throughout Seminole County, and today’s event highlights the value of our partnerships with students, families, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, and Seminole County Public Schools,” SCPS said in a statement.According to police, there was a non-credible threat made toward the school on Tuesday, but that incident was unrelated to Wednesday’s lockdown and arrest.The police department is urging anyone with information about this incident to call them at 407-339-2441 or dial 911. Anonymous tips may also be called into Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
