DENVER (KDVR) — Police in Littleton shot and wounded a man on Monday evening.
The Littleton Police Department posted just before 6:30 p.m. that officers were responding to the area of West Kettle Avenue and South Datura Circle. The department later said they were responding to “a disturbance” and police opened fire “shortly after.”
The department later posted that Littleton police received a call about “a possible suicide in progress” at 5:47 p.m. Responding officers “were confronted by” a man in his 50s with a weapon, according to police, “who exited his home and approached responding officers.”
“An OIS occurred and the male was transported to a local hospital” by South Metro Fire Rescue, according to police.
Police said there was no threat to the community.
The condition of the wounded man was unknown. Police said he was transported to a local hospital after the shooting.
Police told FOX31 that Littleton was the only police agency that opened fire.
The 18th Judicial Critical Incident Team was on the scene to investigate the officer-involved shooting.
