Leesburg High School principal arrested on DUI charge, documents show

The Leesburg High School principal was arrested Saturday after driving under the influence, according to the Lake County booking website.The booking report identified the principal as 38-year-old Michael Randolph. He has been the principal at Leesburg High School since 2017. In 2021, Randolph was honored as the Teacher of the Year for the Lake County School District. According to the booking report, Randolph was arrested by the Clermont Police Department around 2:30 a.m.Randolph was charged with a second-degree misdemeanor for driving under the influence; however, he has pleaded not guilty, according to Lake County Schools.He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting a $1,000 bond Saturday.The district acknowledged the seriousness of the charge and shared the following statement: “The District was recently informed of the arrest of Leesburg High School Principal Michael Randolph for driving under the influence. Mr. Randolph has pled not guilty to the charges. The incident did not occur during a school activity or involve students or employees. The District takes these charges seriously and holds all of its leaders to high standards of personal conduct. However, Mr. Randolph has not been adjudicated guilty of the charges and the District will reserve judgment and further comment until conclusion of the judicial process,” the district said. Randolph’s court date is scheduled for Nov. 13. WESH 2 News reached out to the Clermont Police Department for more information on the arrest but has not heard back.
