Sanremo and Eurovision fans should hit play on this one as Laura Pausini and Julien Lieb provide their commanding spin on Marco Mengoni’s hit Due Vite, now La Dernière Chanson (Due Vite). The new track combines the bold vocals of both stars, and sees a fusion of languages as they flirt with both French and Italian on the number produced by Paolo Carta.
Laura shared: “When Marco Mengoni sang “Due Vite” at the Sanremo Festival in 2023, I immediately felt it was an important, timeless song. Its writing truly represents contemporary Italian pop music, and I loved the idea of also including more modern tributes on the album.”
She adds: “Marco is an Italian singer-songwriter whom I deeply admire for his voice, his vision, his lyrics, and his personality, so I had known for a long time that, sooner or later, I would sing one of his songs. During my musical exploration of his catalogue, one day I came across this French version.”
Speaking of how her collaboration with French star Julien came about, Laura adds “At that very moment, I was discovering Julien’s music, so I got in touch with him and we promised each other that sooner or later we would collaborate on something special. In reality, it was already written in destiny, because when I found out that Julien is also a fan of Marco’s music, I thought he was the perfect artist to pay tribute to him.”
The track will feature on Laura’s new album IO CANTO 2 which sees her pay homage to Italian pop classics. Laura will also release album YO CANTO 2 focusing on Latin American hits.
