Los Angeles is often home to some of the country’s most expensive home sales, but for the first time this year, Los Angeles County didn’t register any sales within the nation’s top 10 priciest.
Of the top 10 most expensive homes sold in November, only one was in California, and it wasn’t even in SoCal, Brentwood News reported, citing a monthly report from Redfin.
The most expensive home sale in the U.S. last month was 20 Meadow Lane in the ritzy Silicon Valley enclave of Portola Valley, which sold for $56 million. That was followed by a $53 million estate in Aspen, complete with access to a semi-private island, that sold for $53 million. Four of the top 10 priciest sales were in Aspen, including ones for $44 million, $40 million and $35.5 million.
So far this year, Los Angeles County has had three of the top 10 most expensive sales of 2025.
In the summer, the Spelling Manor estate at 594 South Mapleton Drive in Holmby Hills sold for $110 million to former Google CEO Eric Schmidt. That sale, the second-most expensive in the U.S. this year, tied a May sale for 630 Nimes Road, which went to former Crown Resorts chair James Packer, the priciest sale in Bel Air in 2025.
Other big-ticket L.A. County sales this year include the purchase of 28719 Grayfox Street in Malibu by a mystery buyer for $80 million and a Beverly Hills home formerly owned by Mark Wahlberg selling for $63.1 million. The latter deal at 71 Beverly Park transferred ownership to Paris Hilton and husband Carter Reum.
The only other California sale among the nation’s top 10 most expensive this year was for 329 Albion Avenue in the Silicon Valley town Woodside, known as the Green Gables estate. The property sold to a New York-based LLC in September for $85 million.
