CLEVELAND (WJW) — Labor Day is celebrated each year in the United States to celebrate the American worker. But that doesn’t mean every worker gets the day off.
Many retailers around the country will close and others will stay open this year on Labor Day, which falls on Monday, Sept. 1.
It’s important to note that while many stores will remain open, they could operate on special holiday hours.
Below you will find a rundown of what’s open — and what’s not — on Sept. 1, 2025.
CLOSED
FedEx – Certain types of expedited shipping will still be delivered, according to the FedEx website.
UPS – No UPS pickup or delivery service. Certain store locations may have limited hours.
USPS – Closed
Costco – Closed
OPEN
Aldi – Limited hours
Acme – Open normal hours
Target – According to the Target website, the store will be open during its normal business hours on Sept. 1, 2025.
Sam’s Club – Limited hours
CVS – According to the CVS website, the store will be open during its normal business hours on Sept. 1, 2025.
In previous years, stores including Drug Mart, Giant Eagle, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Walgreens and Walmart were open as usual or for limited hours on Labor Day.
