Kudos App/Extension Offers 5x Rewards At Partner Retailers & More ($20 Referral Bonus, 20% Back at Lowe’s & More) – Doctor Of Credit

We recently learned about another app and Chrome extension called ‘Kudos smart wallet’ which helps track which card is best for earning at any particular retailer. They also offers ‘boosts’ to double the cashback earned at thousands of retailers. The app offers various other services such as auto-filling your card numbers.

If you add your Discover card in Kudos and activate the boost, you’ll be earning 25% back on Lowe’s: 5% from Discover for the quarterly category and a bonus 20% from Kudos. If you have a Blue Cash Preferred saved, you’ll be earning 15% at Kohl’s: 3% from the regular department store earn on the Blue Cash Preferred, and Kudos adds 4x on top of that for an additional 12%.

You need to add your cards to the Kudos extension/app and also to activate the boost before shopping. Possibly you have to pay with the card as well (?).

Aside from the 5x promo offer through May 30, 2024, there are lots of other boosts available as well. Thousands of retailers like Walmart and Gamestop get rewards doubled via the boost. The boost doubling is always tied to add to the regular rewards rates to the cards in your wallet. If you have a card that earns 5% at that particular merchant, Kudos will give you another 5%, effectively doubling your earn.

$20 Referral Bonus

Kudos also offers a $20 bonus to those who signup using a referral link and make a purchase at a Boost merchant. Once the purchase has been confirmed with the merchant (typically within 60-120 days), your reward will be issued.

Our Verdict

We’ll have to play around more to see how useful Kudos is; feel free to discuss in the comments. The $20 signup bonus is nice and the boost offers can be lucrative if they pan out as advertised. It’s not yet clear to me whether Kudos hijacks the shopping portal tracking on the purchase.

You need to add a credit card (and perhaps pay with that card?) in order to earn the bonus boost credit. I’m not yet sure if adding a credit card is necessary to get the $20 Kudos signup bonus.
