King Charles III and Queen Camilla attended a Ceremony to mark the 25th Anniversary of the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh on September 28th, three years after attending the Scottish Opening of Parliament in 2021.
Ahead of the Ceremony, Mace and the Crown of Scotland were carried by the Duke of Hamilton from Edinburgh Castle into the Debating Chamber of the Scottish Parliament in procession to a Fanfare sounded by the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla were received by the First Minster of Scotland and other Officials as they arrived at the Scottish Parliament, where the Duke of Hamilton and the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry were in attendance.

King Charles gave an address to the Scottish Parliament.
The Queen and I are so very pleased to be able to join you today in marking the 25th anniversary of the Scottish Parliament
My beloved grandmother was proudly Scottish, my late mother especially treasured the time spent at Balmoral, and it was there, in the most beloved of places, that she chose to spend her final days.
We are all, at the end of each day, united by our love of Scotland. Because of its natural beauty, of course, but also because of its strength of character, based as it is on the extraordinary diversity of its peoples, whose range of ideas, skills, energy, passions, and frequently deeply-held beliefs, never cease to inspire me..”
Following the ceremonial proceedings in the Debating Chamber, the King and Queen attended a reception for local people nominated by MSPs in the Main Hall of the Scottish Parliament.
Queen Camilla wore Queen Mary’s Diamond Thistle Brooch.
The King, as Prince of Wales, attended the official opening of the Scottish Parliament with the late Queen in 1999.
