All things considered, Jennifer Garner’s response to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s divorce rumors has been pretty supportive of the pair—but now, some sources are now saying that she’s drawing a line when it comes to their relationship drama affecting their kids.
A close source recently revealed to Fox News Digital that Garner wasn’t expecting Affleck to rekindle his relationship with Lopez—or all the media attention that comes with it. “Jennifer Garner felt blindsided by Ben’s relationship with JLo,” the source said. “She doesn’t like her kids in the public eye so much, and that’s been hard for her.”
Garner and Affleck share three children—Violet, 18, Seraphina (who might be going by Fin now), 15, and Samuel, 12. Garner has always been super protective of their privacy. But ever since Affleck and Lopez’s high-profile marriage, it’s been paparazzi galore, and apparently, Garner’s not having it. “She doesn’t like the constant attention around her kids because of Jennifer Lopez’s fame,” another source added.
It’s not just the flashing cameras and headlines, though. There’s also been a lot of speculation about the state of Ben and J-Lo’s marriage, and it’s weighing on Garner, too. InTouch Weekly was the first to report claims about Bennifer’s relationship being on the rocks. According to an insider, “The writing is on the wall—it’s over. They’re headed for a divorce—and for once, [Ben’s] not to blame!” The source went on to say Ben is focusing on his work and kids now, implying he had already moved out and the couple was thinking of selling their dream house.
But before you start feeling too sorry for Bennifer, Us Weekly painted a different picture. A source told them that while Affleck and Lopez are having some issues, they’re not divorcing. Instead, the insider suggested that they’ve had some arguments, mostly because J-Lo’s been ramping up her work commitments and prepping for her tour. “Jen is very focused on work. They are on two completely different pages most of the time,” the insider shared. Still, three different sources confirmed they’re working on resolving their problems, so maybe there’s hope yet.
Affleck and Lopez’s love story dates back to 2001 when they met on the set of Gigli. They first got engaged in 2002 but called it off before the wedding in 2003. Fast forward to 2022, they rekindled their romance and got married in July of the same year. Reflecting on their journey, Lopez shared in her newsletter, “We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient.”
For Garner, though, the last few years have been a rough ride. She’s always been a champion for her kids’ privacy, even advocating for laws to protect children from invasive paparazzi. Back in 2013, she supported a California bill imposing stricter penalties on photographers who harass celebrity kids. It’s clear she’s serious about keeping her kids out of the spotlight. But with all this media chaos, it’s no wonder the mother of three is worried. It’s a tough balance, especially with the relentless curiosity about Lopez and Affleck’s blended family.
Hopefully, things calm down soon and the kids can enjoy a bit more privacy. After all, growing up is already tricky enough—let alone trying to do it with two A-list parents and a stepmom who’s a global superstar.
