• Scream star Jenna Ortega makes her hosting debut on SNL tonight! She is the second celeb born in the 2000s to ever host SNL (Billie Eilish, who hosted in December 2021, was the first). Jenna was born in September 2002, just a few weeks before her Wednesday co-star Fred Armisen would make his SNL debut as one of two new featured players hired for season 28 (the other new hire was Will Forte).
• The 1975 make their return to SNL tonight, having first performed on the show back in February 2016.
• Keeping some show news quick this week: Sarah Sherman and Ego Nwodim celebrated their bdays this week, the show released some bloopers from the PDD/Travis Kelce short, Bowen Yang (re?)joined TikTok (and celebrated Ego Nwodim) and SNL uploaded a cut for time sketch from the Travis Kelce episode.
• In more important news, this week the SNL postproduction team announced that they were going on strike April 1 due to NBCUniversal’s lack of cooperation in regards to offering them an adequate contract. Editors Union members were hand-billing outside 30 Rock late Friday night informing fans waiting for stand-by tickets to the show about the situation. It is not yet clear whether NBCUniversal and the team will reach a deal before April 1, but SNL does have an episode scheduled for that evening (host/musical guest: TBA), and it is not known whether the cast and rest of the crew will cross the picket line that night.
