Jeff Joyner: Senior Managing Director, Private Banking

[ad_1]

After growing up in a small town near Tallahassee and graduating from Florida State University with degrees in economics and political science, Jeff Joyner moved to Tampa in 1990. Today, he serves as the Senior Managing Director at Cadence Bank’s Private Banking, honing his passion for building relationships with clients and assisting them in areas like tax and estate planning, investments and financial planning.

ABOUT ME

After college, I packed up a U-Haul trailer and moved to Tampa to begin my career in banking. Today, I have the privilege of working with a fantastic Cadence team, which has expertise in a wide range of services and products that affluent clients require. I truly enjoy collaborating with my clients to solve challenges and achieve meaningful results.

I live in a golf course community and spend most of my free time with my high school–age son Darius, who is enjoying life as a student athlete. My wife, Stephanie, and I adopted Darius from Haiti in 2014, and he has been a joy and a blessing. Our older son Connor is a senior at Florida State University. He’s looking forward to graduating next spring and starting law school.

MY LOCAL KNOWLEDGE

My favorite hidden gem is Wild Rover Brewing Company. It’s a great place to watch a soccer match, and the food is excellent. The menu features wings, burgers, flatbread and traditional English dishes — I love the steak and ale.

A great place to talk business and enjoy fresh seafood is Ocean Prime. The menu offers something for most everyone. I try to eat healthy, so I typically order the teriyaki salmon.

Tampa Bay is famous for its beaches, so anyone from outside the area always enjoys a trip to the beach. Even those from Florida’s East Coast appreciate a walk on the white “sugar” sand. I also like to bring visitors to the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs.   It’s interesting to get a behind-the-scenes view of the sponge industry and enjoy great Greek food. Ybor City is another great spot to visit for its history, nightlife and dining options.

When I’m not working, I enjoy morning and evening walks in one of the parks near our home with my Shiba Inu, Logan. My family and I also like attending some of the area’s many festivals. We especially enjoy the Clearwater Jazz Festival, Caribbean Heritage Festival, Hyde Park Village Art Fair and the Wine and Food Festival. Our favorite, however, is the Festival of Trees. It’s a great way to kick off the Christmas season and also raises money for The Arc Tampa Bay, where I’ve volunteered for more than 20 years.

When it comes to staying active, I work out at Snap Fitness on Race Track Road and practice martial arts at Impact Martial Arts. I’m a fourth-degree black belt working toward my fifth degree. Martial arts help me stay physically fit and mentally grounded. As a prostate and testicular cancer survivor — four years cancer-free thanks to early detection and excellent care at Moffitt Cancer Center — my wellness routine is very important.

For art and culture, I encourage residents to learn more about and support the smaller museums, concert halls and theaters in our area. Some venues are staffed and run by volunteers — you may even see someone you know.
