Jake Jonez always provides a welcome break from our continuous cycle of doom-scrolling, with the star’s viral video content offering much-needed light-hearted sass and humour. The star showcases another string to his bow with his second EP Good Sport.
Opening with powerhouse electronic dance on the EP’s title track, you’ll be struck by the high-quality pop offering that Jake presents. Things only get better with the slinky, R&B-infused and string-laden all u got, and the noughties-influenced US sugary pop of the nostalgic touchdown.
Picasso receives a fresh video treatment – a number with slinky longing and elegance, courtesy of the work of the EP’s producer and Jake’s smooth, absorbing vocals. Tacoma delivers a stripped-back, country-tinged sultriness, whilst the EP closer can i rounds things off with electronic-indie flavours.
Jake shared: “Welcome to the identity crisis that is the world of being Good Sport, welcome to dismantling the people-pleasing traits of your past. Six tracks I am very proud of… and I hope you love…”
The star also noted: “Quite emotional, but let me chill… I cannot wait for you all to hear this project, been cooking it up for over a year at this point. Thank you to all the legends that helped me put this record together. I hope you all dance and cry and laugh to this shit the way I do.”
Jake sounds flawless throughout the EP, with emotive musical narratives that absorb, and productions which showcase pop music with ambitious and clear finesse.
