Kevin Durant, one of the NBA’s biggest stars, has come out to support players using marijuana and revealed that he wants the league to lift its ban on marijuana.
Stating that he believes marijuana should be treated like alcohol, Durant said that other players could benefit from using marijuana.
“I actually called [Adam Silver] and advocated for him to take marijuana off the banned substances list. I felt like it was becoming a thing around the country and around the world. The stigma behind it wasn’t as negative as it was before. It doesn’t affect you in a negative way. He agreed… I just enjoy the plant, it’s simple as that,” he said in an event sponsored by CNBC and The Boardroom.
Durant also spoke about his meeting with Adam Silver, saying, “Well, he smelled it when I walked in. So I didn’t really have to say much, you know what I’m saying?”
“He kind of understood where this was going…It’s the NBA, man… everybody does it, to be honest. It’s like wine at this point,” the Phoenix Suns superstar added.
