One doesn’t set their sights on becoming a fashion editor at the age of 12 if they don’t like trends. In fact, being hyper aware of them was most likely listed on my job description. So, it goes without saying that fads of all levels of viral status and critical acclaim hold a special place in my heart. But don’t let that fool you. My wardrobe isn’t some kind of time capsule for all of the trends that have come and gone in my 27 years. Rather, I’m really quite the classic dresser, a fact that anyone who’s seen me shop at Nordstrom knows all too well.
I’ve been shopping there for the better part of two decades, and despite my general affinity for of-the-moment finds, the pieces I always tend to grab for while I’m there are the ones that err more on the side of timeless than buzzy—the ones that I know I can wear again and again for all kinds of occasions and in countless different ways. My latest deep dive was hardly any different, with my Nordstrom shopping cart currently filled to the brim with too-good-to-gate-keep staples that I love far more than any of the trendy pieces I spotted along the way.
