The shooting follows a busy night in downtown Cleveland, with crowds going to a Cleveland Guardians game, a concert and more.

Officers were patrolling on foot just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday, as bars were closing and crowds were leaving, according to a news release.

Officers heard shots in the 1000 block of West 11th Street and “rushed to the area,” where they found a 19-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers rendered aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS, according to the release.

Officers searching the area also found a 24-year-old man with a gunshot wound, according to the release. He was treated at the scene by EMS and transported to a hospital.

A preliminary investigation suggests the shooting escalated from an argument between two people. The 24-year-old now at the hospital is a suspect and was placed under arrest.

The incident remains under investigation.
