The Northwest’s level of panic over something as ordinary as cops enforcing laws reached new hysterical heights yesterday.
Two Portland schools announced they had locked down students inside the buildings.
Did an active shooter or a toxic chemical spill prompt this?
NOPE!
Schools acted based…wait for it…rumors that federal immigration authorities might be in the neighborhood.
ICE has made it clear, it doesn’t raid schools. Ironically, the lockdowns might just have drawn the very people ICE hunts down…illegal aliens…to the outside of schools.
This political theater comes at the expense of your kids, but I’m guessing woke Portlanders won’t object.
Let me add it up this way. Americans chose a President by a majority who promised the biggest mass deportation in history. Donald Trump has delivered.
He’s using laws that have been on the books for decades…so long in fact that Trump was a democrat back when they first passed.
That enforcement enjoys the support of two-thirds of Americans.
But schools have taken it upon themselves to scare the daylights out of kids and parents because they don’t like the choice of voters. Local news media magnifies the message with scary headlines.
Imagine the lessons kids learn in this: If you don’t like laws, don’t follow ‘em.
And you wonder why this country seems so messed up lately.
