Meanwhile, William and Kate paid a visit to St. Davids Cathedral in Wales on Friday, where the princess, 41, donned a pair of pearl-and-diamond earrings once owned by the queen, People reports.

The senior royal also sported the earrings several times on the heels of the monarch’s death, including when she and William, also 41, were at Buckingham Palace to await the arrival of the queen’s coffin, according to the outlet.

William, and Kate, the Prince and Princess of Wales, lay flowers during a service at St Davids Cathedral, for the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death, on Friday, Sept. 8, 2023.

King Charles honored his late mother in part by releasing Cecil Beaton’s 1968 portrait of the queen at the age of 42, which debuted at the National Portrait Gallery that same year, The Guardian reports.

“In marking the first anniversary of Her late Majesty’s death and my Accession, we recall with great affection her long life, devoted service and all she meant to so many of us,” Charles said. “I am deeply grateful, too, for the love and support that has been shown to my wife [Camilla] and myself during this year as we do our utmost to be of service to you all.”

As for the Queen’s beloved corgis, they appear to be in excellent care, according to an Instagram post from Sarah Ferguson.

“As we mourn a year on, we also celebrate the wonderful times we shared with Her Late Majesty the Queen,” wrote the Duchess of York. “She entrusted me with the care of her corgis, Sandy and Muick, and I am delighted to say they are thriving.”
