Every year, stores and malls in the Charlotte area open early the day after Thanksgiving for those who like to follow a day of feasting with a day of shopping.
Retailers begin advertising their deals for Black Friday, which falls Friday, Nov. 28, well in advance of the holiday week. Many stores also offer discounts ahead of the popular shopping day.
However, shoppers may spend less this year compared to last year. According to a recent Deloitte survey, shoppers who plan to make holiday purchases between Black Friday and Cyber Monday (Dec. 1) expect to spend, on average, 4% less than in 2024.
