HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — Deputies are investigating a double shooting after they say a husband and a wife were found dead in a west Harris County home on Monday.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said it responded to a home on Bent Springs Lane around 6 a.m. after a man reported finding his father and mother shot to death on the first floor of a two-story home.

In an update, HCSO said homicide detectives are investigating the incident as a double homicide and have identified the victims as Trinette and Christopher Lopez. No arrests have been made.

Investigators tell ABC13 they believe the shooting was targeted.

According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, a 7-year-old foster child, and an adult brother and sister in their 20s were sleeping upstairs when the shooting happened.

“They were asleep and awakened by shots, and then they ran down and found both parents deceased inside the residence,” Gonzalez said.

The sheriff said the man and woman, who were in their 50s, were found in different areas of the house, but not too far from each other.

Gonzalez said there were no immediate signs of forced entry, but said they are not ruling anything out.

“At this point, everything is under consideration,” Gonzalez said, adding that there are previous calls to the home that involved an ex, who has not been named as a suspect.

HCSO officials said autopsies will be performed in the next 24 hours to confirm the cause and manner of death.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office at 713-221-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
