What are you up to this weekend? We’re hosting a kids’ movie night tonight, and the big question is, what movie? Last time we watched Parent Trap, and before that we watched Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Any tried-and-true recs? Hope you have a good one, and here are a few links from around the web…

First, an enormous thank you to everyone who joined us in donating to humanitarian aid organizations. Together we donated $20,000. Sending so much love to those who are suffering.

A beautiful Detroit house, where the backyard is a community garden.

The time Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones dressed up as Fleabag characters!

The mid-life friend I didn’t know I needed.

Primary’s annual friends and family sale is here, with 25% off EVERYTHING. (Here’s their most-loved jogger, and my boys got great jackets.)

I volunteered in Anton’s fifth-grade class, and we spiralized zucchini. It was so delicious, we’re psyched to make more.

Pete Davidson spoke so honestly and beautifully in his cold open on SNL.

How fun are these Halloween chocolates?

Love wearing these soft, lounge-y pants with an oversized sweater. Bonus: Pact is offering 20% site-wide with code COJ20, good through October 31st.

The Wall Street Journal quoted me in an article about post-weaning depression, a topic near and dear to my heart. (WSJ gift link)

Oooh, this chocolate-box cottage in English countryside. The ceilings are very low, but the colors make it incredibly cozy and welcoming.

Random q for the group: I’m looking for a perfume that smells clean and fresh, like you just stepped out of the shower. Does anyone know a good one? (I used to love Bath, but it’s discontinued.)

Also, I just remembered this perfume smell test we did at our old workspace. Made me laugh.

Plus, three reader comments:

Says Madeleine on what things in your home are just for you?: “My husband has a wonderful eye for the placement of furniture. He is, though, colorblind. So, while our chair is in the perfect location, does he know it is bright pink? No, he does not. Does he know the rug is yellow? Doubtful. Turquoise bench? Nada. He thinks our entire house is muted browns, but let me tell you, the color scheme is 100% me and my inspiration was preschool.”

Says Anon on seven rules for dinner guests: “The happiest memories I have of being both host and guest are about warmth, intimacy, and surprise. They’re about generosity, which to me is hugely about forgiving mistakes, both my own and others. I am currently in a sad season of life, but boy, when I get back on my feet, you better believe there will be dinner parties. Please come. Spill the red wine, show up late because your baby won’t fall asleep. Cry at the table and tell me why your world is falling apart. Make me laugh so hard I forget the chicken in the oven. I’m sorry I forgot you hate cilantro, and yes, I love you.”

Says Amanda on five pick-me-ups: “From the comments, I compiled everyone’s cozy songs into a playlist. It’s on Spotify and called ‘Cup of Jo – Cozy Songs.’ (Thank you, Amanda!!!)
