Hate-filled MTA commuter scrawls anti-Asian graffiti on Queens store: NYPD

A hate-filled MTA commuter nonchalantly scrawled anti-Asian graffiti on the front of a closed liquor store as he waited for a city bus in Far Rockaway, NYPD officials said Saturday.

The man, wearing a bright black and white hoodie, white sweat pants with a black stripe and black baseball cap exited an A train at the Far Rockaway/Mott Ave. station about 10:45 p.m. on April 19 and went to the street level to a bus stop on Mott Ave. and Beach Channel Drive, cops said.

As he waited for a bus, he walked up to Mott Ave. Liquor & Wine on Mott Ave., which was closed for the night, pulled a can of spray paint out of a black backpack and scrawled an anti-Asian statement on the roll-down security gate, police said.

It was not immediately disclosed what was written.

The act of vandalism is being investigated as a hate crime, cops said.

Cops on Saturday released images of the vandal in the hopes of identifying him.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
