DEL AIRE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A grass fire on the side of the 405 Freeway near Hawthorne forced several lanes to temporarily shut down during the evening rush hour Thursday.
Firefighters responded around 5:23 p.m. to a 1-acre fire near the southbound 405 at the 105 Freeway transition, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Crews were able to get the upper hand on the blaze but the southbound side of the freeway was temporarily shut down before one lane reopened. Some northbound lanes were also closed.
Forward progress of the blaze was stopped at 4 acres and no structures were threatened, according to LAFD.
Traffic was moving slowly amid the lane closure. All lanes later reopened.
