(KRON) — A man was arrested for attempted homicide Thursday for an alleged shooting that happened in Morgan Hill on Sept. 13.
Officers with the Morgan Hill Police Department were called to the 100 block of Ciolino Avenue around 12:13 a.m. for multiple gunshots fired in the area. At the scene, officers found a teen suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
“Upon arrival, officers located several bullet casings on the street and sidewalk,” Morgan Hill PD said. “While officers were on scene, they learned that a 17-year-old victim suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds had been transported from the scene to Saint Louise Hospital.”

The victim was treated and released from the hospital. During the investigation, investigators identified the suspected shooter as 28-year-old Giovani Ahumada of Gilroy.
“Detectives determined the shooting occurred when the suspect, standing on the sidewalk, fired at a vehicle carrying four occupants as it traveled along Ciolino Avenue,” Morgan Hill PD said. “… Surveillance footage captured Ahumada running south through a nearby apartment complex immediately following the shooting.”

On Thursday, Morgan Hill PD and the Gilroy/Morgan Hill SWAT Team served search warrants at homes in Gilroy and Morgan Hill. Ahumada was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for charges of attempted homicide and felon in possession of a gun.
