Premier League Team of the Week

Here is our team of the week from the weekend’s Premier League action, with some star performers included from Liverpool, Brighton and Manchester City.

Week 10 of the 2025/26 Premier League season was one packed with goals and provided big wins for teams at the top and near the bottom of the standings.

The three points and bragging rights went to Chelsea in their London derby with Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a 1-0 win for the Blues.

Champions Liverpool got back to winning ways after a four-game losing streak in the Premier League with a 2-0 win over in-form Aston Villa at Anfield, while Manchester United’s winning streak was brought to an end with 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest.

Arsenal continue to set the pace after a regulation 2-0 win at Burnley, while Manchester City are trying to hang on the Gunners’ coat-tails after a 3-1 home win over Bournemouth on Sunday.

Goalkeeper – Giorgi Mamardashvili (Liverpool)

Liverpool needed a big performance to stop the rot against Villa and keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili was one of their standout players.

Making a few good saves, including a deflected effort from Matty Cash that was heading for the top-right corner, Mamardashvili showed why he can be a reliable backup to Alisson for Reds boss Arne Slot.

Defender – Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)

In front of Mamardashvili, Virgil van Dijk also stood up under the spotlight after recent criticism in the media levelled at his leadership and performance.

The Dutchman was a rock at the back and helped the Reds secure a confidence-boosting clean sheet.

Defender – Mats Wieffer (Brighton)

One of three Brighton players to make the team of the week following their 3-0 thrashing of Leeds United, Mats Wieffer makes the cut for Gameweek 10.

Providing an assist at the end of the great team move, Wieffer was eager to get forward and help his team in the final third, while also keeping a clean sheet against the toothless visitors.

Defender – Gabriel (Arsenal)

Another week and another clean sheet for Arsenal, led by their defensive talisman Gabriel.

Burnley failed to register a single shot on target at Turf Moor, partly down to the supremely consistent defensive efforts of Brazilian centre-back Gabriel.

Defender – Nico O’Reilly (Manchester City)

Manchester City enjoyed a good day against Bournemouth at the Etihad on Sunday, winning 3-1, and it was another memorable game for defender Nico O’Reilly.

The 20-year-old got on the scoresheet on the hour mark to score City’s third goal of the game which capped off an impressive performance from the youngster.

Midfielder – Rayan Cherki (Manchester City)

Providing two assists for a certain Norwegian goal machine, Rayan Cherki also impressed for City against the Cherries at the weekend.

Always looking for that through ball, Cherki is growing in creative stature in the middle of the park for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Midfielder – Casemiro (Manchester United)

Casemiro has started to grow in influence for Manchester United and although he could not help them over the line with a win on Saturday, the Brazilian still performed well for the Red Devils in the 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest.

Scoring the opening goal of the game, it was another strong display from the veteran midfielder.

Midfielder – Lucas Paqueta (West Ham)

It’s been a tough start to the season for West Ham but they picked up three big points on Sunday thanks to a 3-1 win over Newcastle.

Having gone behind early, Lucas Paqueta helped the Hammers rally when he scored the equaliser in the 35th minute. It was an authoritative performance from the Brazilian as he played a key role in his side’s victory at the London Stadium.

Midfielder – Yankuba Minteh (Brighton)

A constant threat against a Leeds side who struggled to cope with Brighton’s passing game, the Seagulls have a real talent on their hands in 21-year-old Yankuba Minteh.

Providing an assist on the day, the Gambian winger is fully deserving of his place in the team of the week.

Midfielder – Diego Gomez (Brighton)

Bagging a brace of goals against Daniel Farke’s side, Diego Gomez could have scored more against Leeds on Saturday.

A player hungry for goals and a real danger in the box, Gomez also makes the cut.

Striker – Erling Haaland (Manchester City)

Well who else really?

It was another weekend to remember for Erling Haaland as he scored two against Bournemouth to take the City striker’s tally to 13 for the season already.

Prolific in one-on-one situations, Haaland looks to be firmly on course to break his own Premier League record of 36 goals in a single season.
