JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — The former Onslow County EMS director has been arrested and is facing multiple charges after his arrest for indecent liberties with a minor and sexual battery.

WNCT’s Erin Jenkins spoke Monday with Anjanette Grube with the NC State Bureau of Investigation. Grube confirmed that on March 7, the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office contacted the NCSBI regarding allegations of indecent liberties involving Robert West Barefoot. An investigation began that led to his arrest on May 17 after he turned himself in at the Onslow County Detention Center.

Barefoot has been charged with four counts of indecent liberties with a minor and two counts of sexual battery. He went before a magistrate and was given a $40,000 secured bond.

Also on Monday, District Attorney Ernie Lee told Jenkins he is on the probable cause calendar for felony counts. The next action is through a grand jury. He also has misdemeanor counts scheduled for June 10.
