Former Easthampton school staff member arrested on child sexual assault charges

Troy Gray pleaded not guilty to five counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – A former paraeducator in Easthampton was arrested and faces child sexual assault charges.
Northwestern District Attorney’s Office told 22News that 57-year-old Troy Gray of Easthampton, a former Easthampton elementary school paraeducator, was arrested last Thursday on child sexual assault charges that allegedly occurred between 2022 and 2023.
On Friday, Gray pleaded not guilty in Northampton District Court to five counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, which involves a single victim, and one count of intimidation of a witness. He was released on personal recognizance and must also adhere to the following:
- Have no contact with children under 16 in any form
- Stay away from Mountainview School in Easthampton
- Stay away from the alleged victim and their family
- Maintain contact with the probation department
A pretrial conference is scheduled for April 22.
The Easthampton School District notified the parents on Tuesday of the arrest of a former staff member. The letter from Interim Superintendent Maureen Binienda informed the school community of the arrest of a former staff member and an investigation is being conducted by police.
Mountain View School is located on Park Street and opened its new facility in September 2022. There are approximately 1,000 students in pre-kindergarten through 8th grade.
