PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — A house is on fire and has partially collapsed in Montclair early Friday morning.
Prince William County Fire Department responded to calls from concerned neighbors that a house was on fire on the 15700 block of Piedmont Place at around 5:50 a.m. Friday. On the scene, they found the house totally engulfed in fire. The fire has since been put out.
Fire department officials say the physical investigation cannot begin yet because the house is very unstable. The roof has completely collapsed and the second floor has partially collapsed into the first floor. The house did not have a sprinkler system.
Officials said people in the basement of the house were able to safely evacuate, but three people upstairs are still unaccounted for. They confirmed they were all in the house overnight, but cannot at this time confirm whether they made it out of the house during the fire.
They have not said how many people were in the basement.
The investigation is ongoing. WUSA9 will update this story as more information comes into our newsroom.
