Firefighters with the Huntersville Fire Department rescued someone from a mobile home during a fire overnight.
Fire officials confirmed the fire on Saturday morning, saying Stations 1 and 3 responded to a fire at a mobile home on Rocky Ford Club Road — off Eastfield Road — overnight and found a heavy fire in the front part of the home.
Firefighters realized a resident of the home wasn’t accounted for, and found a secondary entrance to the mobile home. Once inside, fire crews found and removed the person from the back of the home while other crews worked to extinguish what was left of the fire.
That person, who has not been identified, was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Huntersville Fire said its firefighters had to overcome a long dirt road with no hydrants and a rapidly growing fire all while finding the occupant, but “met those obstacles with a determined driver, a hose line quickly stretched, the officer going straight to search & rescue mode.”
