Fire crews make first containment gains on Thompson Fire

(FOX40.COM) — Fire crews battling the Thompson Fire gained some containment of the burn for the first time according to the latest reports from CAL FIRE.

A Thursday morning report from CAL FIRE says that the 3,568-acre blaze just outside Oroville is now 7% contained.

According to CAL FIRE, 4 firefighters have been injured fighting the Thompson Fire and 4 structures have been destroyed.

The fire started on Tuesday and has prompted the state to issue evacuation orders and warnings for thousands of nearby residents.
