SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Crews are responding to a fire at a Buddhist temple Tuesday evening in the Mission District, the San Francisco Fire Department said. More than 50 firefighters responded to Hua-Zang Si temple after receiving a call at 5:27 p.m.

Video (above) shows flames coming out of the side of the main structure of the temple located at 3134 22nd St. Officials said the fire broke out at a residential building associated with the temple.

The building suffered damage in its walls and the attic, according to SFFD. Eighteen monks were displaced, and the Red Cross is assisting them.
