Finnish Star Erika Vikman Releases New English Language Pop ‘Father (I Will Never Confess) – Culture Fix

Ich Komme hitmaker Erika Vikman releases her first fully English language single in the anthemic pop number Father (I Will Never Confess). The song sees Erika collaborate with a hit team of Swedish creatives including Joy Deb, Linnea Deb and Andreas Lindbergh.

Whilst the song taps into Erika’s love of camp excess, there is a deeper sentiment at the heart of the number exploring Erika’s complex feelings on religion, paired with her confident sense of personal identity.

Erika shares: “Both Sintisten toytässä and the single Father (I Will Never Confess) contain references to the fear of God. I have seen firsthand how religion can negatively influence how people see other people. I have had friends from strong religious backgrounds in my close circle and as a child I was scared of hell a lot, so this theme has remained strongly in my mind. Religion can be used to scare and control people, which is absolutely terrible and wrong, because religion is supposed to be a beautiful thing.”

She continues: “In this song, I have come to the conclusion that I can no longer apologize for who I am and the mistakes I have made. We celebrate who we are as an individual, even if it is not perfect or acceptable in everyone’s eyes. The song is for everyone who feels like an outsider in their life or that they are being judged. Let’s accept together that we are ‘such a mess’”

The number will be performed at UMK on Saturday 28th of February. We’ve got our fingers and toes crossed that this may be the first taste of a new album from Erika.
