FBI fugitive wanted for Charlotte woman’s murder captured in Mexico

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WTVD) — A fugitive from the FBI who was wanted for a Charlotte woman’s murder has been captured almost a decade later.

Alejandro “Alex” Rosales Castillo was added to the Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list in 2017.

He is charged with murdering 23-year-old Truc Quan “Sandy” Ly Le.

The Charlotte woman’s body was found in 2016 in a wooded area in Cabarrus County.

For nearly ten years, special agents and Charlotte police have worked to find Castillo after he was seen on surveillance video crossing the border in Arizona into Mexico on August 16, 2016.

He was captured on Friday in Pachuca.

Castillo is being held in Mexico City as he awaits extradition back to North Carolina.
