A diver in scuba equipment, submerged in an icy pond on the property, was among those deployed to the Rancho Los Cerritos chicken farm off James Madison Highway.

HAYMARKET, Va. — FBI agents could be seen covering the perimeter of a chicken farm in northern Virginia on Thursday afternoon with around a dozen bureau vehicles parked at the property and at least one diver.

An agent in scuba equipment, submerged in an icy pond on the property, was among those deployed to the Rancho Los Cerritos Chicken Farm off James Madison Highway in Haymarket. Video of the search was captured by WUSA9’s Sky 9 helicopter on Thursday afternoon.

Other agents in FBI windbreakers could be seen combing the fields of the farm on Thursday afternoon.

The operation began as early as Wednesday night, with the Prince William County Police Department telling WUSA9 that the FBI’s efforts were contained to the property.

“PWCPD is not aware of any issues at this time,” PWCPD said Wednesday night at around 8:30. “Increased law enforcement presence can be expected.”

Also, Wednesday night, Lira Gallagher of the FBI’s Washington Field Office called the operation “court-authorized law enforcement activity” and told WUSA9 that there was no threat to public safety.

The investigation continued into Thursday afternoon, however, and the Prince William County Police Department began deferring all questions to the FBI Washington Field Office. The bureau has declined to comment on how its operation has progressed since Wednesday night.
