ShotSpotter lives on in Fayetteville. The city council voted
on Monday to approve the continued use of ShotSpotter with a vote of 8 to 2.
The city has used ShotSpotter since 2022.
Council members also approved a motion to require data-based
results that ShotSpotter is working on, and not just labeling loud noises as gunfire.
According to the contract, using ShotSpotter comes with a
price. Officials said Monday’s extension is worth $220,000.
