(FOX40.COM) — A disabled pickup truck was fatally struck by a tractor-trailer on I-5 north of Sutterville Rd around 7 a.m. Saturday morning.

The driver of the pickup was declared dead at the scene about half an hour later, according to the California Highway Patrol South Sacramento.
Southbound lanes were closed for about an hour; northbound lanes are closed with no estimated time of re-opening.
CalTrans District 3 is urging drivers to avoid the area of NB I-5 at Sutterville Road since the backup extends to 43rd Avenue.
The crash also resulted in one of the vehicles catching fire, CalTrans District 3 said.
All the lanes are open as of 10:30 a.m., CHP said.
The other driver was transported to an area hospital with moderate injuries.
