Montage Palmetto Bluff, located within South Carolina’s Lowcountry, offers an oasis that feels much further than the four hours it takes to get there from Charlotte. Nestled inside 20,000 acres of protected maritime forest and marshland, this lush backdrop creates lasting memories no matter the season you find yourself there. And throughout the year, the resort offers events and experiences that make the most of this unique setting.

Montage Palmetto Bluff’s resident naturalist, Cassie Beato, works in tandem with nonprofit Palmetto Bluff Conservancy to protect those lush maritime forests and winding tidal creeks that crisscross the region. Experiences at the resort include Private Naturalist Excursions with Beato to explore the various surrounding ecosystems, as well as Inland waterway ecotours and walk and talks in nature.

Elsewhere, you can explore the area with a family-friendly Dolphin Discovery Cruise; a paleontological exploration at Shark Tooth Island; Hobie Pro-Angler Kayak Fishing; Family Watersport Adventures; Traditional Lowcountry Shrimping; and much, much more. See the entire line-up of nature experiences here. All bring visitors face-to-face with the flora and fauna of the Lowcountry.

Event programming throughout the year offers additional opportunities to enjoy the nature that the resort inhabits. In the immediate future, you’ll find a Lowcountry Golf Scramble on the Sunrise Law and a Family Fishing Competition in June, while July brings a Nature Bingo Scavenger Hunt and a Wildlife Showcase with Georgia Southern.  Fourth of July Weekend offers oyster roasts at Moreland Landing, a classic Lowcountry Boil with all of the fixins.

Later in the year, there are several additional events highlighting the natural world, including Well Living programming in November that explores the rich cultural legacy of the Indigenous peoples of the Lowcountry. Head here for a complete line-up of events. Well Living program often ties in natural opportunities within the theme of that month, with holiday weekends bringing a flurry of activities.
