Exhuma the mystery occult film starring Choi Min-Shik, Kim Go-Eun, Yoo Hae-Jin, and Lee Do-Hyun, has made a powerful debut in Korea, claiming the top spot at the box office and breaking records.
The movie opened at No. 1 in Korea and maintained its position throughout its opening weekend, setting a new record for the biggest opening in Korea for 2024. Before its release on February 22, Exhuma garnered impressive pre-sale numbers, achieving a 54% real-time reservation rate and accumulating 369.99 million advance bookings despite facing tough competition.
The star-studded mystery thriller also surpassed 2 million moviegoers within just four days of its release. As of February 26, Exhuma had attracted 2,299,706 moviegoers since its opening.
Directed by Jang Jae-Hyun (“Svaha: The Sixth Finger,” “The Priests”), Exhuma follows the story of two talented shamans, a geomancer, and a mortician, who are tasked with locating a mysterious grave, inadvertently unleashing a malevolent force buried beneath it.
In the film, Kim Go-Eun and Lee Do-Hyun portray gifted shamans, while Choi Min-Shik and Yoo Hae-Jin play pivotal roles as top-notch geomancers and morticians, respectively.

Exhuma Synopsis:
After experiencing paranormal events, a wealthy family in Los Angeles summons a young rising shaman duo, Hwa Rim (Kim Go-Eun) and Bong Gil (Lee Do-Hyun), to save their newborn child. Upon arrival, Hwa Rim senses a dark shadow from their ancestor affecting the family, known as a “Grave Calling.” Hwa Rim seeks assistance from renowned geomancer Sang Deok (Choi Min-Shik) and mortician Yeong Geun (Yoo Hae-Jin) to alleviate the ancestor’s spirit. However, when the group unearths the grave in a remote Korean village, they inadvertently unleash a malevolent force buried beneath it.
