(KRON) — CAL FIRE Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit says several crews are at the site of a vegetation fire near Calistoga that has jumped to 1,045 acres.
There is zero containment on the Napa County blaze that officials have dubbed as the Pickett Fire.
Mandatory evacuation orders have been issued for three zones (colored ‘red’ in the map below), and five zones are under an evacuation warning (colored ‘yellow’), say officials.
Evacuees are asked to go to the Calistoga Community Center at 1307 Washington St.

The fire was reported at three acres just before 3:30 p.m. Thursday near the 2300 block of Pickett Road. Authorities said it had a “moderate rate of speed.”

“Additional ground and air resources have been ordered,” CAL FIRE updated in a social media post.

Those traveling in the area are urged to use caution. There are no reports of injuries so far.
The origin and cause of the fire have not yet been determined. There is no word that nearby structures or homes are threatened.
215 personnel from various agencies are assisting at the scene, confirmed CAL FIRE.
Smoke from the wildfire can be seen as far away as Santa Rosa, said the Santa Rosa Fire Department in social media post.

The Bay Area Air District has issued an air quality advisory due to wildfire smoke from the Pickett Fire now through Friday, Aug. 22.
“Smoke from the Pickett Fire in Napa County is expected to impact Sonoma, Napa and Solano counties on Thursday and Friday,” said Bay Area Air District in a news release on Thursday afternoon. ”Conditions can change rapidly and the amount and location of smoke at ground level is hard to predict. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible, and the smell of smoke is possible.”
