Driver killed, passenger runs out to call 911 when gunfire erupts in N. Houston, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A driver is dead after gunfire erupted in Houston’s Kashmere Gardens neighborhood Tuesday morning, police said.

According to the Houston Police Department, two men were in a car on Memel Street when someone opened fire on them. Police said the driver was hit multiple times, and the passenger, put the car in park, got out of the car and ran a couple of blocks to a home to call 911.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

Police said a description of the shooter(s) is unknown, and they are asking for anyone with information to call the department.
