SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Three men have been ordered held without bail following a drive-by shooting in the area of Miller Street in Springfield.
In a news release by the Springfield Police Department, on July 5th at around 2 a.m., officers were called to Miller Street for a ShotSpotter Activation. During the investigation, officers located 16 shell casings. As a result, damage was caused to four homes and two vehicles, no injuries were reported.
In the video, shared by the Springfield Police Department, “the shooters can be seen laughing and promoting each other to shoot at times blindly, from a moving vehicle at homes in the Miller Street area, showing zero remorse for their actions,” police say.
Detectives were able to identify three suspects from the Snapchat showing a shooting incident, Doughlas Moss, Joseph Rossi, and Brennan O’Connor. They were arrested and during their dangerousness hearing, all three were ordered held without the right to bail on the following charges:
- Firearm-Armed Assault to Murder (five counts)
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building
- Malicious Destruction of Property over $1,200
- Malicious Damage to a Motor Vehicle
Moss faces additional firearm and narcotics charges.
Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni said, “These defendants showed an alarming disregard for human life when they recklessly fired into homes where children and families were present. Thanks to the swift and thorough work of the Springfield Police Department, and our successful efforts in court, all three are being held without bail. My office will continue to aggressively pursue accountability for those who bring gun violence into our neighborhoods.”
