Doctor Weighs In On Weight-Loss Resolutions For New Year – KXL

[ad_1]

CLEVELAND, OH – One of the usual popular New Years resolutions is to lose weight and a registered dietitian is offering tips on helping with that. Doctor Julia Zumpano with the Cleveland Clinic recommends trying a calorie deficit. That is taking in fewer calories than the body needs to maintain its current weight.

Dr. Zumpano says for a weight loss of about a pound a week, a calorie deficit of 500 calories a day would be needed. She recommends using an online calorie deficit calculator to help because everyone’s calorie needs are different.

She also suggests not having alcohol, ultra-processed foods and sugary drinks, which are typically high in calories with no nutritional value.
