Eight tickets won $1 million or more in Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing.

WASHINGTON — The Powerball jackpot has now climbed to $1.5 billion dollars after nobody won the top prize in Wednesday’s drawing.

While no one won Wednesday’s jackpot, there were eight tickets nationwide that each won $1 million or more.

Three tickets in New York, along with one ticket each in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Tennessee won $1 million by correctly matching all five white ball numbers.

Two tickets, sold in Arizona and Massachusetts won $2 million by getting the white ball numbers and adding the Power Play option.

Wednesday’s drawing also produced 72 tickets that won $50,000 prizes and 14 tickets that won $100,000 prizes.

The current jackpot has been rolling since Sept. 6, when two winners beat odds of 1 in 292.2 million.

If someone wins Saturday night’s drawing, the cash value totals $686.5 million.

The current jackpot is now the fifth largest in the game’s history, and the seventh largest among U.S. lottery jackpots, with the next drawing on Saturday, Dec. 20.

This year has produced three major Powerball wins: the $1.8 billion September prize, a $526.5 million jackpot claimed in California in March and a $328.5 million prize won in Oregon in January.
