WASHINGTON — The Mega Millions jackpot jumped to $843 million for Friday’s drawing after no ticket matched all six numbers Tuesday night. 

Friday’s drawing had $843 million on the line, the eighth largest in the history of the game, with a cash option of $391.7 million. 

Tickets that match five white balls can win between $1 million and $10 million. The jackpot has been growing since it was last won at $348 million in Virginia on June 27. It’s the longest streak without a jackpot winner since the game began in 2002.

Friday’s winning numbers are 16-21-23-48-70 and Mega Ball 5.

The jackpot winner has the option to take the cash lump sum of $391.7 million or annuity, which is paid out in one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments increasing by 5% every year.

Mega Millions drawings take place Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m. Eastern Time.
