Detroit Lions to Interview Jake Peetz for OC Job

[ad_1]

According to NFL insider Mike Garafolo, the Detroit Lions are set to interview Jake Peetz, the Seattle Seahawks’ passing game coordinator, for its vacant OC position. It’s another signal that the Lions are serious about exploring both internal familiarity and outside innovation as they reshape the offense.

Peetz brings strong pedigree with him. He previously worked under Sean McVay with the Los Angeles Rams, a coaching tree Detroit knows well after years of success tied to that system. More recently, Peetz has been part of Klint Kubiak’s staff in Seattle, helping oversee the Seahawks’ passing concepts and weekly game planning.

This isn’t Peetz’s first brush with coordinator buzz, either. He interviewed for the offensive coordinator job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last year, keeping him firmly on the league’s radar as a rising offensive mind.

For Detroit, the interview fits with what general manager Brad Holmes has said publicly: the Lions are “looking at everything.” With John Morton out and the organization focused on finding a detail-oriented leader who can command the room, Peetz profiles as a candidate who blends modern offensive structure with experience in proven systems.

Whether Peetz ultimately becomes the choice remains to be seen, but his inclusion in the interview process confirms one thing — the Lions aren’t limiting themselves to familiar names, and they’re clearly doing their homework as they try to get the offense back to championship form in 2026.
