DENVER (KDVR) — Scattered storms are on the way Saturday mainly after 1 p.m. along with high temperatures in the middle to lower 90s. This is all ahead of the return to hot and dry conditions starting on Sunday.

Weather today: Sunny and warm with a chance of showers

Denver will kick off Saturday with plenty of sunshine as highs will max out in the lower 90s. Clouds will increase ahead of some afternoon showers and storms, some of which could bring gusty winds and heavy downpours.

While wind is the primary threat here, there could also be hail for some of the more severe storms, especially along the plains.

Weather tonight: Showers and storms fizzle out

Any remaining showers and storms will move out of the area by Saturday night as the skies clear. Overnight low temperatures drop down into the upper 50s and lower 60s.

Looking ahead: Hot, sunny

A dry and hot weather pattern moves in starting Sunday. On Sunday, high temperatures will climb to the mid-90s, which is a little more than 10 degrees above normal for this time of year.

Temperatures in the upper 90s then move into the forecast for the first half of the week and will put several days in record range.

Monday is on track to fall shy of the daily record, which is 97 degrees set in 2005. Tuesday and Wednesday will reach the upper 90s, which is just shy of the record of 101 degrees and 100 degrees, respectively.
