DENVER (KDVR) — A few showers and thunderstorms are in Denver’s weather forecast Monday evening ahead of a warmer and drier rest of the week.

Weather tonight: Rain clearing

Rain and a few thunderstorms will linger Monday evening ahead of clearing overnight. Low temperatures will fall to around 5 degrees, which is about 5 degrees warmer than normal for this time of year.

Weather tomorrow: Slight chance for showers

Tuesday will start off with plenty of sunshine. Then, as high temperatures climb to the upper 70s, clouds will increase ahead of a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms, mostly in the mountains.

Looking ahead:

The first few days of September will bring sunshine and warmer weather. Wednesday, the sunshine helps temperatures climb to around 80 degrees. The warming trend continues Thursday with high temperatures about 10 degrees above normal, reaching the low to mid 80s.

By Friday, a breeze will pick up ahead of a cold front as high temperatures climb back up to the 80s. This front will bring back the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms by the weekend, along with much cooler and more fall-like temperatures, only reaching the lower 70s Saturday, then mid to upper 60s Sunday and Monday.
