Denver weather: Cooler this weekend, but still dry

DENVER (KDVR) — The Denver metro’s extended stretch of unseasonably warm temperatures continues, but the Denver weather forecast does feature briefly cooler — and at times windy — conditions this weekend.

Saturday will be the windiest day of the two with gusts up to around 30 mph. Higher gusts may be possible in the foothills and eastern plains. The region will cool further on Sunday.

Weather tonight: Calm and cold

The state will be cooler overnight Friday, thanks to a cold front that will drop through overnight. Winds will turn to the north and gradually pick up with gusts up to 20 mph expected.

The high country may see some light snow, but no major accumulations are expected for roadways and mountain towns.

Weather tomorrow: Windy but seasonal

Winds continue to increase Saturday with north winds sustained 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph or higher. Skies will be sunny. Temperatures will also be near seasonal for a change, with highs topping out in the mid-50s.

Looking ahead: Warm again next week

Sunday will be the coolest day of the next seven with area highs only in the upper 40s to low 50s, slightly below normal. Skies will stay sunny and winds will be light.

Next week continues to feature extended sunshine and unseasonably warm weather. Highs through Friday will be in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Some areas on the plains may come close to record highs again. Watch the weather pattern closely for next weekend. There are signs we may undergo a significant change and finally see not just cooler air, but our first meaningful mountain snow of the season.

As for Denver and the plains, rain may be possible, but snow is still missing in action.
